GreenPath Baby is giving away a $25 Gift Certificate to our cloth diaper store to help you try cloth diapers risk free!  We love that cloth diapering is something we all can do with our babies to conserve our planet as well as their skin and health-and it ain't too bad on the eyes ether!  I really think if more parents were willing to give modern cloth diapers a chance, they would be surprised at how easy they are to use.  Imagine what the world would be like if everyone cloth diapered their children?  How much longer would our natural resources last for our children to use?  Every decision we make whether we like it or not have consequences, we pass on values.  Being "green" is not an all or nothing decision either, we can all take small, medium, or large steps towards helping the environment.  Of course, we only diaper our children for a small part of their lives, but the impact can be great given that only one disposable takes up to 450 years to decompose.  I love this chart, it is one that I look at often when trying to distinguish the environmental impact of my choices.

So make your resolutions, whether big or small and stick to them!  And enter our giveaway for a chance to win some cloth diapers to help you accomplish that goal!

Cloth Diapers and Rash - Best Diaper Rash Creams to use with your Cloth Diapers

Cloth Diapers are great for baby's skin since they are made out of fabric and do not contain the irritants known to be found in traditional disposable diapers.  But how do you deal with a diaper rash while using cloth diapers?  With all of the non-cloth diaper safe creams that use zinc-oxide (which is not very cloth diaper friendly, but does the job when it comes to rashes) how do you decide what really works for rashes?  In this post, we will talk about the best natural products for "traditional" diaper rash, not the monstrous bumpy/pimply yeast rash, for more information on cloth diapers and yeast rash, see this post.

Best for everyday use
Hosie Naturals Butt Balm.  All natural, safe for a brand new baby, made with certified organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Rosehip Oil, Calendula, and essential oils of Lavender and Chamomile.  This is great for using with every diaper change and for mild to moderate rashes.  Also works great for dry skin, bug bites, and mild burns.  Safe for cloth diapers.

Best for Coconut Oil Lovers
Eco Sprout's The Coconut Stick.  Talk about having the best of both worlds!  Having Coconut Oil on a Stick is great way to have the efficacy of Coconut Oil and mild rash treatment exactly where you need it without having to get your hands messy.  Also great for everyday use or mild rashes, the Coconut Stick makes an awesome on the go product to keep in your diaper bag for those quick changes.

Best Barrier Cream
The Grandma El's Diaper Rash Remedy and prevention is a great barrier cream and treatment for moderate diaper rash.  It is cloth diaper safe and glides on very smoothly on baby's skin.  It works especially well for babies who are getting rashes from going #2 often because it blocks the waste matter from adhering to the skin.

Best Natural Scent
The Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Balm smells deliciously fresh which is an added bonus due to the fact that you don't get the "pamper's powder smell" with cloth diapers.  This balm smells fresh and so clean.  It contains Tea Tree oil, Calendula, Lavender, Myrrh, is cruelty free and has been clinically tested.  I love this stuff.  It is also vegan, which can be hard to find in traditional baby products.

All of these remedies are great, especially when using them in conjunction with cloth diapers.  The best way to prevent diaper rash from occurring in the first place is by changing him/her often.  Let baby run around naked!  A little fresh air feels really great on a sore bum!  Use a good wipe solution that contains calming Witch Hazel and Chamomile to keep baby's skin naturally moisturized in between changes.
